About

Nothing in biology makes sense except in the light of evolution.

Theodosius Dobzhansky

Nothing in Biology Makes Sense is a group effort in science blogging and online discussion. Our regular contributors work in biology—mostly academic, but also applied, and in medicine—and include students as well as tenure-track faculty. The spirit of this site is to be something of an open journal club, where we tell each other about scientific papers that catch our interest and explain why they’re cool, or why they’re dead wrong.

Comments are welcome—we hope lots of folks will join the discussion. We do ask that you provide an identity (via a WordPress, Twitter, or Facebook login) to comment, but it need not be your “real” name. We’ll keep the tone here welcoming, respectful, and on-topic—please do the same.

We’d also love to hear from you if you have an idea for a post, and think this would be a good place to publish it. Email Jeremy with proposals.

Our header image uses the font “Hitchcock”, which was created by Brendan Dawes.
